About IBCC

What is the IBCC 10-Point Grading System?

The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) is the regulatory body for all educational boards in Pakistan. In August 2025, IBCC approved a standardized 10-point grading system for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) examinations, replacing the traditional marks-only system. The system is being implemented in phases starting from the 1st Annual Examination 2026.

This new system assigns letter grades from A++ to U based on percentage ranges (A++, A+, A, B++, B+, B, C+, C, D, U), making it easier for students, parents, and institutions to understand academic performance at a glance. The minimum passing percentage has been raised from 33% to 40%. The system is now being adopted by all major boards including BISE, FBISE, and Aga Khan University Examination Board.

Our calculator helps Matric students instantly determine their grade according to the official IBCC criteria. Simply enter your total marks and obtained marks, and the calculator will compute your percentage and assign the correct grade with remarks.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the IBCC 10-point grading system?

The IBCC 10-point grading system is a standardized grading framework introduced by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission for Matric (SSC) and Intermediate (HSSC) examinations across all Pakistani educational boards. The 10 grades are A++, A+, A, B++, B+, B, C+, C, D, and U. It assigns letter grades based on percentage ranges, with 40% as the minimum passing threshold.

Which boards follow the IBCC grading system?

All major educational boards in Pakistan follow the IBCC grading system, including FBISE (Federal Board), all BISE boards (Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan), and the Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB). The system is being implemented in phases starting from the 1st Annual Examination 2026.

Is a U grade a fail in Matric?

Yes, a U (Ungraded) grade means the student has scored below 40% and is considered to have failed the examination. The student will need to reappear for the examination if eligible. Previously the passing marks were 33%, but the IBCC has raised the threshold to 40%.

What is the difference between A++ and A+ in Matric?

An A++ grade (Extraordinary) is awarded for 96% to 100% marks, while an A+ (Exceptional) is for 91% to 95%. A++ is the highest grade in the IBCC 10-point system and is the most difficult to achieve.

When did the new IBCC grading system come into effect?

The new grading system was approved by IBCC in its 182nd meeting held on August 7-8, 2025. It is being implemented in three phases starting from the 1st Annual Examination 2026 for SSC-I and HSSC-I, with full adoption by 2028. Absolute scores will also be reported alongside grades during the transition period.
